When I was young my mom used to tell me before bed “night night, sleep tight, dont let the BED BUGS BITE! ” I never saw it as a true threat–until now.
As a college student, one of the biggest problems in dorm rooms are bed bugs! This infestation has caused an uprise of fear in the minds of young studnets. One of my best friends had a case of bed bugs, She is an OCD clean neat freak and i could not believe it. Turns out that our school does not fumagate the dorm rooms over the summer after every student has moved out. The residents who lived in the room before her had them but did not report anything so all of her roomates had to go through a lot of trouble.

It starts with a rash, a person wakes up itchy thinking they may have been bitten by a mosquito or have had an allergic reaction.
Bed bugs are not caused by poor sanitation or ones social status
Bed bug infestations must be introduced by bringing in an item that has bugs or eggs associated with it
Poor sanitation, particularly clutter, can make it much more difficult to control or eliminate a bed bug infestation
Eating on you bed can cause them.
Matt Martinez,a exterminator for Bowco Exterminating says,” Bed bugs are best handled by a professional. Physical methods such as vacuuming or hot laundering can be helpful. Vacuums that are used to remove bed bugs can become infested. Beds do not have to be thrown out, they can be saved by using an appropriate mattress & box spring encasement. Sleeping in a different room or vacating the structure is not a solution and can make the problem more difficult to eliminate.”

rose thats so gross thanks for informing me about bed bugs. ill be sure to make sure i dont have them and will never have them. BTW NYC is so infested with them several clothing stores had to be closed down due to their infestation theses stores are in SOHO. Heres a question to ask yourselves what did they do with their inventory?
